Big Update

It has been almost a month since I’ve updated this blog, and I feel really bad! We have been extremely busy, but I’ll try my best to catch you up to speed…

Saturday, April 4th – Juli’s Birthday. We had a party for “Miss Juli” at My Gym and invited all the kids who were currently enrolled in classes. It was just a fun, free event for the kids to come and the parents to see what we do at a My Gym Birthday Party. Surprisingly, most everyone brought me a gift, from a drawing or a coloring page to gift cards to restaurants. Everyone was so nice, and we all had a great time! And did I say it snowed (first time that has happened on my birthday, funny). The next night, Thomas took me out for dinner to Texas de Brazil because we had a free meal coupon for my birthday. It was just sad not to spend the day with my mom and grandmother, who share having a birthday with me on April 4th.

Friday, April 17th – Snow Storm. This was a weird storm, though, because it was warmer. The snow came down so full and heavy, but then made the roads very slushy because it wasn’t freezing. We were open for classes at My Gym that morning, went babysitting that afternoon, but had to cancel our Parent’s Night Out that night because of the road conditions (loss of almost $250). On our way home from babysitting, we were coming up to cars at a stop light. Thomas wasn’t driving very fast at all, but when he applied the brakes, we just slid. He tried to change lanes, but had no control. We ended up hitting the car in front of us! We did dent the girl’s bumper, but she was so startled by the noise and impact, that she said it was fine. The cops were not called, and we went our separate ways. We made it home safely after that, but it was the first day that I wanted to go home to Florida and not drive in the snow anymore!

Friday, April 24th – Spring Time. Even though it just poured snow last weekend, it has warmed up to melt everything. This day, it was actually 85 degrees and beautiful! The tulips are blooming around town, and I’m loving it! Even though I wanted to, we didn’t get to enjoy it much (bike riding, hiking, etc.) because we babysat again after work – but we love every second of watching the kids! The family has a 2 year old girl and twin 4 month old boys. I watch the twins every Tuesday afternoon in between teaching classes at the gym, and we both watch them every Friday afternoon. I possibly will be watching them on Thursdays in May, as well. The family is so nice, though, and even had us over for Easter Dinner (they had sweet tea!!!). I’ll try to post pictures of the cute baby boys soon.

Saturday, April 25th – Weather Change. Ok, the weather in Colorado changes everyday! It went from the 70-80s to 40s today… cold and rainy some. We are in need of a weekend off, but are glad to be staying busy. My Gym classes run Monday-Saturday and Birthday Parties can be booked Friday-Sunday, hence us being “open” 7 days a week. We need parties to book to keep the doors open, but it also is nice to have a Sunday off here and there. We have been averaging 5 parties a month, but April has a total of 9 birthday parties!!! This is good new, but I don’t know when our next day off will be now.

Next weekend – We are putting in some long hours at the gym (even a few 11pm nights last week) to get ready for another Open House this upcoming Saturday, May 2nd. ELMO is actually coming to My Gym to help bring in some more kids. We are excited, but nervous about this event… just not knowing what to expect. Last Open House, we signed up 30 new kids over 3 whole days and also booked 10 birthday parties. The Elmo event is only 5 hours long, so the 30 extra kid mark might be a little to high to expect. My Gym Corporate told us that if we signed up 20 new kids from this event, that it would be huge. However, we will also be advertising birthday parties, summer camp, and our Parent’s Night Outs so at the end of the day, it is how much extra revenue we brought in. I’ll post after Saturday to let you know how everything turned out… and who got to be Elmo, haha.

Bottom line is, we are busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, but we’re OK and making it! We miss you all soooo much, but will see most of you in less than 12 weeks in Florida. We will try harder to post all the good, bad, and fun we are having. It won’t be another month before you hear from us again on here….promise!
